Chicken chow mein

This is a fast food version of a Chicken Chow Mein recipe, which is very quick to prepare, especially if the various ingredients are pre-prepared – about 10 minutes of cooking time. Very tasty too!

Ingredients

Oil for wok
800 g chicken fillet
1 yellow onion
0.5 tbsp chicken powder (from instant noodles)
0.5 tbsp salt
1 tbsp grated ginger, preferably from a can
1 can of bean sprouts
250 g egg noodles, or 4 packets of instant noodles
Chinese soy
Light soy
White pepper
Sesame oil

Description:

  1. The chicken can be prepared by cooking for a few minutes, and then shredded and cooled and saved. A voluntary step before it is to let it marinate in bicarbonate for 30 minutes.
  2. Split the onion and measure all the spices.
  3. Cook the noodles, and rinse off cold.
  4. Heat oil in the wok.
  5. Add the onion and fry for 30 seconds.
  6. Add the chicken and fry for 1 minute.
  7. Pour in half of the salt and chicken powder and stir.
  8. Pour in the ginger and stir.
  9. Pour in (the drained) bean sprouts and mix around.
  10. Pour in the noodles and mix around.
  11. Pour over Chinese soy and mix around. It should get a light brown color shade in this step.
  12. Pour over light soy and white pepper and mix around.
  13. Pour over sesame oil and mix around.
